GPSR for UK sellers: selling to EU and Northern Ireland customers after Brexit

For UK makers, GPSR changed EU sales more than for anyone else. You're now a non-EU manufacturer, so you can't sell to EU consumers unless an economic operator established in the EU takes responsibility (Art. 16 GPSR).

Northern Ireland

Under the Windsor Framework, EU product rules, including GPSR, apply to goods sold to consumers in Northern Ireland. That's why Etsy and other marketplaces group "EU & NI" together.

What you need

  1. An EU responsible person: an EU importer, authorised representative or fulfilment provider. Etsy lists partner providers in its help centre.
  2. Technical documentation and a risk analysis. Your EU representative will ask for these before taking you on.
  3. Labels with a batch number, your details and the EU responsible person's details.
  4. Warnings in the language of each EU country you ship to.
  5. Listing information on every EU-visible listing (Art. 19).

Or opt out

Some sellers stop selling to the EU & NI. That's a valid choice, but it closes a market of 450 million people. With the paperwork done once per product, staying open is usually worth it.

Create your documentation. GPSR Kit adds your EU responsible person to every label and listing text.
